JJR won the 2019 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement Award Excellence Award

The China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaborative Innovation Achievement Award is established with the approval of the National Office for Science and Technology Awards. At present, it is the only highest honor in China facing collaborative innovation among industry, universities, and research institutes. It aims to commend advanced units and individuals who have made outstanding contributions in collaborative innovation work among industry, universities, and research institutes, encourage the transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements into productive forces, promote collaborative innovation among industry, universities, and research institutes to a higher level, and contribute to the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy and the construction of an innovative country.

       Recently, the “Creation and Application of Special Fertilizer for Subtropical Crop Water and Fertilizer Integration” project jointly completed by Guangxi Jiejiarun Science and Technology joint stock company and Yulin Normal University, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Academy of Agricultural Sciences Agricultural Resources and Environment Research Institute, Shenzhen Batian Ecological Engineering joint stock company, and Guangxi University has successfully won the 2019 China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement Award Excellence Award. In recent years, JJR has been highly praised by the industry for its outstanding scientific and technological innovation achievements. Winning this award once again highlights JJR innovative strength.

       The award-winning project pioneered core technologies such as high-tower tubular reaction-ammonium polyphosphate technology, nano-intelligent controlled release technology, and small molecule organic chelation technology for trace elements, etc., which solved the problems of traditional water-soluble fertilizers with a large number of elements, lack of medium and trace elements, uneven nutrient supply, high water insoluble matter, serious pipe blockage, and poor heat volatilization and frost resistance of liquid products. It broke through the bottleneck of traditional water-soluble fertilizer efficient utilization technology and innovatively developed new water-soluble fertilizer products such as complete water solubility, stable and long-lasting, and organic chelation of trace elements, and realized industrial production and application.  

       After more than 10 years of research and development, the project team has carried out the research and application of key technologies for water-saving, fertilizer-saving, yield-increasing and quality-improving mechanisms and key technologies in dry farming areas in South China, established the “water-fertilizer integrated technology system in dry farming areas in South China” and developed the “new water-soluble fertilizer products and intelligent management system”. The overall technical achievements have reached the domestic leading level, and some technologies have reached the international leading level. The project is mainly aimed at the uneven distribution of rainfall in dry farming areas in South China, poor soil water and fertilizer retention capacity, obvious regional and seasonal drought, extensive water and fertilizer supply methods during crop growth, mismatch of time and space demand for water and fertilizer, low water and fertilizer utilization rate, restricting the sustainable development of agriculture in this region. Results In Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan and other places, sugarcane, corn, fruits and vegetables, kenaf and other major dryland crops accumulated and applied 8.28 million mu, which can save water and fertilizer by more than 40%, increase output by more than 20% on average, and increase output value by 828 million yuan. Economic benefits, ecological benefits and social benefits are significant.
